“La Cocha” kennel, located in the mountains of Córdoba, is approved and registered by the Federación Cinológica Argentina (Argentine Cynological Federation -FCA).Its owners are Ulises D’Andrea Nores and Jorge Alberto Funes, both are international judges of the breed.
Both Ulises and Alberto make the decisions about the crossbreeding of the dogs, feeding, breeding, health and training.
"La Cocha" covers 3,000 ha (7413 ac) of the countryside, which allows the dogs´ development in freedom, with ideal physical and functional training. In this vast area, crossbreeding is held, puppies are born, developed and educated; the interaction with other domestic animals, and mainly with people, is prioritized.
The kennel has excellent veterinarians, who supervise the health and the prevention of the specimens since their birth.
When they are 45 days old, each puppy receives a hearing test (“Baer Test”) and a heart colour doppler to detect any congenital abnormality. The veterinarians perform a clinical exam per animal every month. Once a year, blood, urine and faeces laboratory tests, as well as serological tests, are performed to have control over the dogs' health. After the year, they are transferred to Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto (National University of Río Cuarto) where professional specialists in hip dysplasia take them for an x-ray.
“La Cocha” has obtained numerous recognitions all over the world for fulfilling the highest quality standards of the breed.
From birth, dogos are fed by brands that guarantee all quality standards to achieve growth as strong as possible.
To prevent a wide range of diseases, the animals receive all the vaccines indicated by veterinarians promptly.
From the moment of delivery, puppies receive intensive care in special spaces, to keep them safe from extreme heat and cold.
The dogos from the kennel are formed with an exclusive orientation towards socialization with their owners, to achieve the purpose of use for which it is intended.
Each dog has its official documentation that certifies its corresponding genealogical relation, issued by the FCA.
The advances in epigenetics have demonstrated that the natural development marks the balance and health, both physical and mental, of future dogs.
At “La Cocha” natural breeding is chosen, to maintain the rusticity and health of the new generations. The birth of the puppy is respected, that means that crossbreeding services are not assisted, inseminations are not performed, labours are not supervised and breastfeeding is not induced.
Up to 65 days of life, feeding the puppy with breast milk is a priority. Nonetheless, from 40 days old on, it also starts to receive natural solid products such as beef, chicken, vegetables, fruits and rice.
At 45 days of life and up to three months old, the puppy is transferred with its mother to open spaces with difficulties on the ground, to evaluate and develop its curiosity and its searching instinct. They also play with children and adult people to give them affection and to socialize.
From 60 days of life on and during 10 days, the mother leaves the place and goes back only at night. Then, the puppies remain there and all together until they are 90 days old. At that time, they are released in the open field to socialize with domestic animals.
From three (3) months on, the dogo puppy can be selected by a new owner and leave the kennel.
A four-day stay is estimated, in which visitors will be able to enjoy the traditional Argentinian food: beef, goat and lamb prepared on grill, stakes, clay oven and a plough disk cooker, and drink the best wines from our country.
